FAITH IN FOCUS: PULLING THE WOOL OVER

How to live life to the full: Get yourself a life coach. Find a lifestyle guru who will take all the strain out of life for you. Phone him or her up every time you can't decide whether to go to Barbados or the Himalayas for your summer break. Pour out your heart about how the Dauphin potatoes were dry as dust when your guests eventually arrived. And don't forget to get advice on what to do about the cat's smell. Try Feng Shui. Once you've shifted that broken down moped out of the dining room your life will start to look up. You'll feel the creative energy coming back into the vibrant lines of your home as your Chi reaches its peak. Get rid of the sofa and watch the TV seated on a coconut mat. Use crystals. If you can't afford to build a crystal pyramid to sit under then just wear one around your neck. Cosmic resonance will pulsate through your body all day long, curing all your aches and pains instantly and making you the wholesome and likeable person that you know you really are. Check your horoscope and tea leaves. This is the cheap option but it is important for you to know whether your dominant sign is about to collide with Jupiter, as it really will have an effect on the way you live your life. Don't forget to take a look at the bottom of your cup, as there is nothing random about the pattern formed by the leaves. Of course, if you use tea bags then your life is probably quite empty. Listen to white noise. Switch on a tape recorder in an empty room and when you return to listen to it you will find that Uncle Sid and Auntie Mildred have bee trying to get in touch with you from the other side. It's something to do with cancelling the milk. In today's gospel Jesus warns about would-be shepherds who only exist to pull the wool over our eyes. He says that he is the one true shepherd who will keep us safe. And why has he come? "I have come that they may have life and have it to the full." And it's free.
