The Most Holy Trinity, Sunday, 26th May, 2024. Cycle B

FAITH IN FOCUS: REFLECTING GOD:

Louise has had a creative side to her ever since she was a young child. She liked nothing better than using every possible felt-tip pen when colouring in the pictures in her book at kindergarten. When she went to school she took pride in her handwriting and not surprisingly showed a penchant for art. So now that she’s got her own exhibition of her pottery in a local gallery, she seems to be following the path that everyone thought she would. For relaxation she plays the piano and is a member of the local amateur dramatic group.Tom is no shrinking violet. As a teenager he always had a very clear opinion on everything and he was first to express it. With a flair for language he went to university to study journalism and media, and it wasn’t long before he got a job on TV as a researcher for documentary programmes. Passionate for the rights of the underdog, he began producing programmes on the plight of sweat-shop workers in the east, and is probably most famous for his series explaining how all our world economies are linked and have to stand together in times of crisis. Last year he was voted the most popular presenter by the communications industry. If you came across Michelle in the street you probably wouldn’t give her a second look. She’s just like any other grandmother pushing her grandson along the street on her way to collect her pension at the Post Office. For years Michelle has given up her Wednesday nights to help train the girls’ netball team and she’s become a trusted friend to generations of young women. In fact, three of the girls she inspired have gone on to achieve national sports status. She has a simple way of making them want to do better. God the Father: creator of all good things. God the Son: communicator of the word of God. God the Holy Spirit: inspirer and sanctifier of our lives. If we are made in the image of God then our lives ought to reflect the Trinity: creator, communicator and inspirer. Tell that to Louise, Tom and Michelle. Or perhaps they already know?
